Works on Paper
Bellows Falls, Vermont
Supervisor: Carolyn Frisa, Owner and Head Conservator
The summer before my third year I spent time at “Works on Paper”, a private conservation lab. While there I was able to complete a number of treatments, as well as other experiences such as disaster response and a theater curtain project.

Theater Curtains
Throughout the summer I helped with the treatment of several large painted theater curtains. This was part of the “Curtains Without Boarders” project, which facilitates the treatment of these painted curtains. Often housed by Granges and town halls, these projects are completed in short concentrated time periods throughout the summer.

I completed many treatments of works of art on paper, such as prints and photographs, doing processes such as washing, bleaching, mendings, flattening, and framing.

Disaster Response
The summer of 2023 brought catastrophic flooding to the state of Vermont, which caused huge amounts of damage. One of the places effected was the Eames archive, which was housed in Barre, Vermont. The building flooded and many pieces of art on paper and archival material was damaged. I participated in the packing and removal of the objects that had been dried so they could be moved to a safer location.

Digitization
Several ledgers were treated for the purposes of digitization. Once they were cleaned and stabilized I had the opportunity to digitize one of the volumes.
