Taught by Jeff Peachey this four week book binding intensive covers binding techniques from history. Mockups are made using historic methods and materials, with other lessons on tool history and materials experimentation.

  • Historic Structures

    By the end of the class we had made nine models from the 16th-19th centuries.

  • Tool Workshops

    We learned how to sharpen and maintain our tools, as well as make handles and sew leather covers for the blades.

  • Leather Dyeing

    We had the opportunity to experiment with creating a dye for our leather using Brazilwood.
